WELCOME

Mr Arnault is an internationally-acclaimed storyteller whose narratives explore the landscape of human fallibility and place mankind firmly on an equal footing with all creatures great and small, from krill to caribou. He considers himself to be a refugee searching for humanity in a barren political landscape. He reminds us of the words of the astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson: I dream of a world where the truth is what shapes people’s politics, rather than politics shaping what people think is true. In his own words, Mr Arnault describes his vocation: “I am a storyteller, first and foremost and my stories are character-driven. The fact that they often depict politicians as inept puppets and corporations as ruthless and anti- human is just an observation: it’s the way the world is. Within this world, people come and go; they love and hate, they demonstrate courage and are sometimes overwhelmed by fear. These are just observations as well. Each of us comes up against our fears every day. We struggle with uncertainty and doubt – even if we refuse to acknowledge it – and it is this dialectic of fear and courage that animates us and puts the heart in any story. These are the people I write about.”
His novella, The Kōan of the Fisherman’s Wife, was a medalist in the 2012 Independent Publisher Book Awards, and his last three publications, The Three Whores of Bertolt Brecht, The Virtue of Circus Dancers and Strangers have each been released to critical acclaim. His septet, The Seven Vigils of Kovic, is a stellar series of murder mysteries which have captured the imagination of readers around the world. David’s latest novel, The Nightwatchman (cover pictured to the left) is available on line
